Your Dependent Care FSA can be used to pay for eligible daycare expenses for your eligible dependents. It is important to know who qualifies as an “eligible dependent” in the context of this account to make sure your claims are processed and you are reimbursed for your expenses quickly.
In general, a qualifying dependent for a Dependent Care FSA is:
- Your dependent child(ren) under age 13
- Your spouse who is incapable of mentally or physically capapable of caring for himself/herself
- Other dependent child(ren) or adult(s) who you can claim on your tax form and who are incapable of mentally or physically capable of caring for themselves
